Ag Service Board

The MD of Ranchland Agricultural Service Board (ASB), established in 1996, focuses on weed control, range management, soil and water conservation, pest control, and large animal carnivore issues. The ASB aims to protect and enhance the headwaters of the Oldman and South Saskatchewan river basins and promote economic sustainability for livestock producers. The board emphasizes strong partnerships to achieve these objectives. Weed programs were quickly initiated and have continued to expand to address the growing threat of invasive plant species. Responsibilities under the Agricultural Pests Act, Animal Health Act and Soil Conservation Act are carried out annually. Environmental stewardship has been a core value of the residents since the first settlers arrived.
