Emerald Award (2022)

The MD received an Emerald Award in 2022 in recognition of their long-standing contributions to environmental resource management. The Emerald Awards are prestigious environmental awards presented by the Alberta Emerald Foundation. They recognize organizations, projects, and individuals across Alberta who are making significant contributions to addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainability.

Henry S. Varley Fund For Rural Life (2023)

The MD was honored with the Henry S. Varley Fund for Rural Life Grant in 2023 from the Community Foundation. The Henry S. Varley Fund for Rural Life was established through a bequest from Bill Long and named in memory of his uncle, Henry S. Varley. The fund aims to enhance and sustain the quality of life in the rural communities of southwestern Alberta. This grant was used to create educational kiosks and a video about how important grazing is for rangeland management and health.

Alberta Conservation Association (ACA) Conservation, Community,
and Education Grant (2024)

The MD received a $3000.00 grant from the Alberta Conservation Association to put on an Alberta Standard Trapping Course for MD of Ranchland rate payers as well as the public. Trapping plays a significant role in conservation efforts through maintaining ecological balance, protecting habitats, reducing human-wildlife conflicts, promoting sustainable use and funding conservation efforts.
