Wildfire CWF-043-2022 is classified by Alberta Wildfire as UNDER CONTROL.  It is located in the M.D. of Ranchland on the west side of Highway 22, near the intersection of Chimney Rock Road and Saddle Mountain Road. The wildfire was detected on the evening of May 22, 2022, and is mapped at six hectares.  Fire resources are still on scene extinguishing hotspots.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Local ranchers, M.D. of Willow Creek contracted fire departments from the Town of Nanton, Town of Stavely, Town of Claresholm, Hamlet of Granum, and Alberta Wildfire were key to the quick and efficient control of the fire.

M.D. of Ranchland Council and Administration recognizes and appreciates the work, cooperation and dedication of all those who helped control the wildfire.  The firefighters and supporting agencies ensured that public safety was paramount during the fire.
